About Taylor
Scottish flautist Taylor MacLennan studied at St Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh before continuing his training at the Royal College of Music in London, where he completed Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. He also studied with Patrick Gallois at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, receiving the Diploma of Merit.
Taylor is a founding member of Explore Ensemble, one of the UK’s leading ensembles for contemporary music. As a freelance orchestral musician, Taylor performs with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, English National Opera, London Mozart Players, Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, and Scottish Ballet, and has appeared at festivals including the BBC Proms, Aldeburgh Festival, hcmf//, Rainy Days, November Music, and Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival.
As a soloist, Taylor has performed at Kings Place, ZKM Karlsruhe, Zeitströme Darmstadt, and the Cambridge Music Festival. His recordings have been released on labels including Hyperion, NMC, Delphian, HCR, New Amsterdam Records, and most recently, Another Timbre, on which he appears on the complete recording of Morton Feldman’s Trios.
