Hindhead Music Centre Arts & Crafts house in Hindhead

Somewhere comfortable to learn and play

Drum lessons take place in our beautiful Arts & Crafts house on the A287 at Hindhead Hill – a comfortable teaching room, a cosy waiting room for parents, and easy parking right outside.

We're easily reached from the A3, or from Haslemere, Grayshott, Liphook and the surrounding villages, with Haslemere railway station just a couple of miles away.

Why learn drums at Hindhead?

The drum kit provides the rhythmic backbone of almost every style of music, and – like any instrument, a good teacher makes all the difference. Proper technique and timing require real dexterity, and we've been helping pupils develop both for over 50 years.

  • Acoustic or electronic, your choice – our teachers can guide you through both, so you can find the setup that suits your space (and your neighbours!).
  • Flexible timetabling – schedule lessons for several children (or yourself and a partner) at the same time!
  • Theory classes, exam preparation – we can offer the auxiliary services to back up the practical lessons, including ABRSM and Trinity drum kit grades.

But most importantly, you'll progress faster and enjoy it more surrounded by other like-minded musicians, in an atmosphere that's equal parts encouragement, fun and high standards.

More information

Tuition is usually one-to-one, with most pupils taking a half-hour lesson each week – though hour-long and fortnightly slots can be arranged too.

All teachers are DBS checked.

We're normally open during termtime from 9am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 5.30pm on Saturdays, so there's usually a slot to suit you or your child. Learning alongside a sibling or friend? We can often schedule you back-to-back to save on travel.

We can also prepare pupils for Associated Board or Trinity drum kit examinations – our record over the years is excellent, with the great majority of candidates awarded distinctions.

Hindhead Music Centre is a non-profit-making company limited by guarantee. Fees are set to cover the Centre's running costs and no more; any profits are ploughed back into the Centre itself.
