Any instrument, any age, any level

Since 1975 we have been providing the best in music tuition to children and adults in Surrey, Hampshire and Sussex. From complete beginners to diploma students and beyond, we'll provide an experienced and inspiring teacher who specialises in your chosen instrument.

Too young to learn an instrument, or need help deciding which one? We have classes for children from 4 years, as well as our popular Discover Music! holiday courses.

We run orchestras and bands, concerts and workshops and much more, most of which are open to everyone, not just those who take individual lessons here. Play a wind or brass instrument? How about joining our Wind Band, taken by the amazing Jonny Ford. Or a string instrument? You'll love Surrey Young Strings, with Jo Hughes-Chamberlain!

Spread the cost. To make good progress on a musical instrument, individual tuition is essential – but individual tuition doesn't come cheap. We can help spread the expense with our Budget Payment Scheme, which lets you pay by Direct Debit over ten months.

Mini Music classes for young children

Music for young children

It's never too soon to start your musical journey, and our music classes for young children are the perfect introduction.

Our Mini-Music introduces children of 4-7 years to all the common musical instruments, while budding violinists and pianists can join our Suzuki violin lessons and Preliminary Piano classes.

Any instrument…

Piano, guitar, violin, viola, cello, bass, harp, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, horn, trombone… the list goes on! Whatever takes your fancy, call us and we'll try to fit you in! More on instruments we teach

Any style…

Classical music training gives you the foundation for almost any musical style, so that's where we recommend you start. But we also teach jazz, rock/pop, R&B, country…

Any age…

Our youngest pupils are under 4 and our oldest ... well, that would be indiscreet! But no matter how many years you have under your belt, it's never too late to learn a musical instrument.

Any level…

We welcome complete beginners – indeed our Mini Music classes are for those who are not even yet old enough to start learning an instrument! At the other end of the scale, if you're working for a diploma or beyond, our specialists will be delighted to help you.

100% pass in exams

Grade exams are not for everyone, but they can be great for motivation and measuring achievment – and if you're applying to uni, you get extra UCAS points for Grade 6 and above! If you do decide to take an exam, it's essential that it's a positive experience. In 50 years we have not had a single failure at an ABRSM exam!

And much more!

Learning from a specialist music school offers so many benefits over private teaching. Schedule multiple lessons for all your kids at the same time!
