Important notice – Coronavirus (updated 6 April 2020)

6 April 2020 – Summer term update

We hope everyone is keeping well and staying safe. When the new term starts on Monday 20 April, all one-to-one lessons will be conducted online. Teachers will be in touch with pupils / parents before their next scheduled lesson to confirm their existing weekly slot and which video conferencing tool they will be using. Please feel free to contact your teacher if you have any questions at this time.

Prospective new pupils who would like to sign up for lessons should contact our office in the first instance. Having discussed what kind of teacher you’re looking for, we will then be able to put you in touch with the right one. Call 01428 604941 or email us.

Inevitably, given the situation with coronavirus, all of the usual group sessions are cancelled until further notice.

18 March 2020

All music exams next week have been cancelled.

With advice from the government being updated on a daily basis, it’s impossible to say how things will stand after the Easter holiday, but as and when it is possible, we will be ready to welcome you back to your music lessons.

Next term is due to begin on Monday 20 April. We are considering various options to maintain teaching, including the possibility of delivering lessons using Skype, which some teachers have already been doing successfully.

We will keep you posted through our website and social media about any changes or cancellations which become necessary as the situation unfolds.

For now, we would like to wish everyone good health, and thank you for your anticipated support and understanding during this unprecedented crisis.

17 March 2020

Further to the Prime Minister’s statement yesterday, the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) have announced that they have decided to suspend all music exams in the UK and Ireland from Wednesday 18 March until further notice. We are sorry to say that this means those pupils of ours who were expecting to take an exam next week will not now be doing so.

16 March 2020

Usually this week we would be staging a range of end-of-term concerts, but with the growing concern about COVID-19, we have taken the decision to cancel all concerts until further notice.

Individual lessons, however, will continue as usual until the end of the term (Saturday 21 March). Please wash your hands before and after your lesson. We also recommend that if possible you keep at least a two-metre distance apart from your teacher.

If you and your teacher are making up for any missed lessons following the end of term, please arrange these with your teacher and not the office.

Our next term is due to begin on Monday 20 April. We will keep you posted through our website and social media about any changes or cancellations which become necessary as the situation unfolds.

In the meantime, we would like to wish everyone good health and a happy Easter.
